4-Hit Day for Longo As Chargers Skirts Past Granada Hills Charter Junior Varsity Highlanders

Four hits from Dom Longo paved the way to victory for Chargers over Granada Hills Charter Junior Varsity Highlanders 17-7 on Tuesday. Longo singled in the first, tripled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and tripled in the fifth.

Chargers earned the victory despite allowing Granada Hills Charter Junior Varsity Highlanders to score four runs in the second inning. Max Szczech, Tyler Ross, and Assane Diaw powered the big inning with RBIs.

Chargers got on the board in the first inning. Braden Oliver doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Chargers scored nine runs in the fourth inning. Oliver, Cory Baer, Longo, Brent Elbert, JP Cardenas, and Cooper Reyes all drove in runs in the frame.

Josh Tiano pitched Chargers to victory. The righty lasted two innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out one. Nathan Conmy threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Anthony Castro was on the hill for Granada Hills Charter Junior Varsity Highlanders. Castro surrendered six runs on ten hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking zero. Arturo Vasquez and Joah Mier entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Chargers tallied one home run on the day. Reyes went yard in the fourth inning.

Chargers collected 21 hits. Ty Starling, Longo, Cardenas, Beau Lantz, Reyes, Oliver, and Baer all collected multiple hits for Chargers. Longo and Starling all had four hits to lead Chargers. Chargers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Longo had six chances in the field, the most on the team. Reyes led Chargers with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.

#13 led Granada Hills Charter Junior Varsity Highlanders with two hits in three at bats.
