2024 Woodbridge: Recap

Saturday September 21, 2024 – Many Agoura HS XC runners opted to participate in the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic in Irvine vs. attending homecoming at AHS. Woodbridge is one of the largest races, bringing competition from all over the country. With over 13,000 participants, AHS did not disappoint! Below is a summary of the results:

Agoura Boys XC had a terrific showing at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic! 
Out of the 30 Agoura boys who raced, 27 of them achieved career-best PRs on the 3-mile race course. Eight boys earned new PR’s by more than 1 minute!
Top PR Improvements:
  • Theo Geertsen (So.) PR’d by 2:59, running 19:28
  • Gavin Kim (Jr.) PR’d by 2:18, running 19:59
  • Nico Gary (So.) PR’d by 1:43, running 19:32 (Nico placed 6th overall in the Novice race)
Agoura had 6 Varsity boys run under 16 minutes in the Rated race, and our 7th ran a 16:05. This is the best showing for the boys team at Woodbridge since 2019 – and with only one senior on the roster.
  • The top Agoura Freshman was Dylan Stein who ran a PR of 16:32 in the Varsity A race.
  • The top Agoura Sophomore was Ryuto Matsumoto who ran a PR of 15:52 in the Rated race.
  • The top Agoura Junior was Dorian Bening who ran a PR of 15:01 in the Rated race and was Agoura’s fastest runner on the day.
  • Senior JP Glynn ran a PR of 15:06 in the Rated race, placing second for Agoura.

 

It was an evening of personal records for all of the Charger Girls who raced at the Woodbridge Invitational on Saturday.
3 mile race Career PRs were set by
  • Fernanda Smith had a 1min 43 second improvement from her previous PR
  • Emily Michelman had a 1min PR improvement
  • Cora Rossitto had a 50 second PR improvement
  • Reese Tamburro had a 29 second PR improvement, and medalled with a 13th place finish out of 155 competitors.
 
 3 mile Season PRs were set by 
  • Jenna Johnson with a 1min 5 second season PR and medalled with 47th place finish
  • Paige Piedmont with a 50 second season PR
  • Carleigh Stout with a 3 min 5 second season PR
  • Sydney Maunu with a 2 min 40 second season PR
The Varsity Girls Team improved their overall team time for 3 mile racing by 6 min and 53 seconds
